BRISBANE May 28-29 2020
Who is it for?
This is a workshop for people who wish to improve their skills at facilitating group discussion, decision making, problem solving, planning and other activities. It is for people who work with adults of any age, teenagers or children in group settings.
We assume that all people have experience of group activities, perhaps more than they know. The workshop is designed to help you become more aware of what you already know. It will enhance and add to the methods and processes you use in group settings. You will be introduced to simple techniques and processes that offer immediate improvement to your group facilitation.
People who can benefit from the workshop include managers, group leaders in all settings, educators, teachers and trainers, beginning facilitators, and the like.
When is it?
Two days:
Registration from 8:30, workshop from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday 28 May;
9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. approximately, on Friday 29 May, 2020.
Where?
Walkabout Creek conference centre, 60 Mt Nebo Road, The Gap. This is a bushland setting in Brisbane's western suburbs. There is parking on site.
(Some satnavs give Enoggera Creek as the suburb.)
What?
Workshop content will be developed partly in consultation with participants. It is likely to include skills, concepts, processes and techniques for
building a cohesive groupdeveloping agreement on more effective group processes
improving group decision making and problem solving and learning
facilitating participative community and organisational change and
improving one's own practice at facilitating and leading groups.
How?
Participants will help to determine the process and content of the workshop. Subject to this negotiation they can anticipate an involving process which provides a mix of theory, discussion and practice. There will be small group work to help participants consolidate the skills, techniques and concepts.
Appropriate handouts will be provided.
Facilitator?
The workshop facilitator is Bob Dick. Bob is a Brisbane-based educator, facilitator and consultant whose reputation in these fields is based on almost five decades of relevant experience in a variety of settings.
Those of you who are familiar with Bob's work will know that his style is casual and participative, his processes robust and learnable, and his documentation clear, readable and practical. His workshops are characterised by an integration of theory and practice, with equal emphasis on the development of skills and understanding. The processes and models he helps others learn are those which he makes use of in his own work.
Cost?
The fee for the two days is $770.00 payable in advance. An early bird rate of $660 is available for fees received 4 weeks in advance. All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.
Cancellations will result in a 90 per cent refund if received 9 days before the workshop, and a 50 per cent refund if received 48 hours before the workshop. Alternatively, participants who are unable to attend are welcome to substitute someone else.
A limited number of half-price bursaries may be available for those genuinely unable to pay the full fee, or other arrangements may be possible. There are also discounts for team attendance of two or more participants from one organisation.
Ring Bob or Camilla on 07 3378 5365 to discuss this.

Negotiate your own in-house workshop
If you would prefer to have a workshop specifically designed to meet your particular needs, and run for you in your organisation or community, Interchange would be pleased to do that. Important advantages of in-house and in-community workshops include their relevance (we fine-tune them to your needs), and their greater ease of application to real local issues.
