Constructive conflict

          workshop, Brisbane, 20-21 April 2017

This workshop presents a learnable five-element framework for relationship enhancement, team building, role negotiation and conflict management.  Concepts, processes and skills for enhancing relationships and for crafting agreement out of disagreement are addressed and practised.  Each element is simple within itself.

When integrated, the five elements comprise a robust approach for the enhancement of personal and work relationships and the resolution of conflict and disagreement.

Who is it for?

This is a workshop for people who wish to improve their skills and understanding for

facilitating better relationships at work and elsewhere

helping teams to resolve disagreements and conflict

improving your own personal and work relationships

resolving conflicts in which you are involved.

The most common application is improving communication and relationships.   During these uses your are practising skills that you can then use, when required, to resolve conflicts and disagreement.

Conflict management is often regarded as difficult.  It need not be.  The processes we examine and practice at the workshop will place effective third party conflict management within the reach of anyone with reasonable communication skills and confidence.

People who can benefit from the workshop include managers, group leaders in all settings, teachers and trainers, consultants, facilitators, and the like.

preparation at the beginning of a conflict management session

the basic process for role clarification and negotiation

applying the same process for resolving disagreements and conflict

asking the right questions

adjusting the process to suit the situation

concluding a session.

How?

You can anticipate an involving process which provides a mix of theory, discussion and practice.  There will be small group work, and opportunities for practice, to help you consolidate the skills, techniques and concepts.

Appropriate handouts will be provided.

The fee for the workshop is $770, payable in advance.  This covers participation in the workshop, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments, and handouts.  For registration and payment received by 4 April, and early bird rate of $660 applies.  (All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.)

Facilitator?

The workshop facilitator is Bob Dick.  Bob is a Brisbane-based educator, facilitator and consultant whose reputation in these fields is based on over a quarter of a century of experience.

Those of you who are familiar with Bob's work will know that his style is casual and participative, his processes robust and learnable, and his documentation clear, readable and practical.  His workshops are characterised by an integration of theory and practice, with equal emphasis on the development of skills and understanding.  The processes and models he helps others learn are those which he makes use of in his own work.
